Shiatsu
Shiatsu is one of the most effective body therapies in the world today, and is based on traditional Asian medicine. Shiatsu uses the energy dynamics of the acupuncture system, yoga and traditional Chinese medicine combined with a full understanding of Western anatomy and physiology and psychology. It is a stand-alone system that can be used to treat many health problems. It can also be seamlessly integrated into any health care program, increasing its effectiveness and promoting faster healing. Clinical results have shown that once the communications systems of the body have been reestablished and the Bodymind complex synchronized, the body is capable of healing itself at a deep and lasting level.
Integrative
Integrative means to make whole, or complete by adding or bringing together parts or to unify.
These parts that I bring together are the time tested techniques and applications of Traditional Chinese Medicine with its emphasis on prevention through diet, exercise and energy manipulation. This energy, Chi as it is known, corresponds to emotions, passions and humors or moods. From Lao-Tsu and Galen to Rene Descartes and William Shakespeare, emotions have been the province of physicians, philosophers, poets, and priests through the ages. It was only in the latter half of the 19th century, however, that emotions became the focus of scientific enquiry and research. This enquiry has often taken a back seat to cognitive, motivational and behavioral research and therapies.
With the advent of neuroscience, emotions have come to the forefront. And not just ‘negative’ emotions, scientists are studying ‘positive’ affects as well.
Although I focus on structural integrity, physiological imbalances, the use of plant extracts and the importance of exercises, my main area of interest is in stored emotional associations. Where it is processed in the brain, how it directly affects the body , showing up as pain and other curious symptoms, as well as the health consequences of emotion-related behaviors is the ultimate challenge for me in bringing peace and well-being for my clients.
Integrative Shiatsu is Simple, Safe, Effective and Fast
For a session, the client is required to wear soft, comfortable, cotton clothing and the treatment takes place on a comfortable, professional massage table in the comfort of your own home or office. Using applied kinesiology testing, information is obtained directly from the body - allowing for a treatment protocol directed by each client's innate need. Differing types of finger and hand pressure are applied to specific acu-points on the body, and meridian stretches are used along with breathing techniques. High grade topical herbal tinctures and flower and plant essences may be applied, to either tonify or sedate the energy in a specific meridian. Homework is often prescribed to further the efficacy of the treatment.

Professional Membership and Licensing
Certified Practitioner with the American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia. AOBTA
Asian Bodywork Therapists (ABTs) who are members of the AOBTA are not required to be licensed as massage therapists to practice Asian bodywork therapy in Texas, as long as they are not providing massage therapy.
At this time the TXDSHS has no plans to issue separate licenses for ABTs under the permissive language of House Bill 2644.

"I have had three sessions with Guy, and he has helped my back pain & general health so much! He is experienced and wise, insightful and caring. What I love about the sessions, is that inner work is being done along with the physical healing. Guy will come to your home or he can see you at Lucia's Garden on Tuesdays." ~
Lucia Bettler, Lucia's Garden
"I would describe Guy as a synergist for
physiological, spiritual, and
psychological health.
Guy "reads" minds by "reading" bodies [applied kinesiology] and not only do I feel amazing
after a session, but also I learn a lot. I have taken my children to see him and have recommended him to many."~
Nancy B.
“I am in the pool table service business, and there’s a lot of heavy lifting involved - lots of opportunities to throw my back out of alignment. I’ve been a client of Guy’s for over 17 years, and I see him on a weekly basis. He helps me stay limber and pain-free. I recommend his services to anyone who wants to feel more fit to meet life’s challenges.”
Ed Nutter, owner, Billiard Experts
"Guy is a knowledgeable, talented healer. He cured back and shoulder pain that plagued me for decades. His skill helped me recuperate from foot and knee surgeries.
